Banksia Integrifolia -
Or commonly known as Coastal Banksia, is widespread through the East Coast of Australia. Found in the coastal sand dunes right through to the mountains, it is one of the most widely distributed banksia species. With it's beautifully unique leaves, showing hues of sage green on the upper side and cloud white undersides, wind swept days flicker the contrast of colours, making for a magnificent show. The tall upright yellow cones evolve through multiple stages. Starting young with pale green buds, popping open into an impressive yellow brush like form, before finishing and transforming into an architecturally impressive seed pod. If you are lucky you may hear the song of the Yellow Tailed Cockatoo, local to the East Coast, feeding on the seeds left from this beautiful native. - Skye Prudence
